Conor Scanlan joins Nauta as Associate Partner
Conor brings with him over a decade of experience in the investment industry, primarily investing in European early-stage software companies.
London, 29th January 2024: Nauta, the pan-European B2B software investor, has today announced that Conor Scanlan has joined as Associate Partner in its London office. Conor joins from Octopus Ventures where he spent the last four years leading the B2B Software team investing its flagship Titan VCT. His role at Nauta will include working closely with the investment team in backing ambitious Seed + and Series A startups and working strategically alongside the other Partners to continue building on the firm's reputation as one of the leading investors of its kind in Europe.
During his time at Octopus Ventures, Conor worked with 13 portfolio companies and was a Board Member for European B2B software companies including Go Autonomous, Ometria and Unmade, as well as leading investments into companies such as Apheris, Pivotal.earth and Velaris. He also worked on multiple exits, including FoodSteps, which was acquired by Registrar Corp, and FullCircl, which was acquired by nCino for $135m. His experiences working with B2B companies innovating with the use of data and AI was a key factor in Nauta deciding to hire Conor, as the firm grows its investment capability.
Prior to Octopus, Conor spent four years at Frog Capital, investing in scale-up stage software companies across Europe. Before Frog, Conor began his career at Arma Partners, an investment banking firm which specialises in advisory services for technology companies including M&A, capital raising and financial restructuring.
Conor commented: “Throughout my time in the venture capital ecosystem, Nauta has been consistently backing high quality B2B software startups and has a fantastic reputation. As I’ve gotten to know the team better, I’ve seen that the track record backs up this reputation and I’ve been particularly impressed by their ambition for the future of Nauta. My time at Octopus Ventures gave me incredible opportunities to work closely with some of Europe’s most exciting companies and I’m confident Nauta will enable me to do that at an even greater scale. This is the perfect platform to take my experience, network and performance to the next level as an investor, so I’m delighted to be joining the team.”
Carles Ferrer Roqueta, London-based General Partner at Nauta, added: “It is rare in this industry that you get the opportunity to join forces with executives with experience as impressive as Conor’s, due to the long-term nature of early-stage investing. But we have been lucky enough recently to bolster our team with fantastic people across data science, operations, investing and marketing roles. Adding Conor to that list, as we enter 2025, is brilliant for the firm and adds a lot of strength to our already stellar investment team. We are so impressed with the investments he’s worked on at both Octopus and Frog, two household names in our industry, and we’re very excited to see what is to come from Conor and the rest of the investment team in the future.”
Nauta’s team is now up to 24 people across London (12) and Barcelona (12), with a strong commitment to investing across Europe and in its fifth fund the firm invested in over 30 companies in six countries (UK, Spain, Germany, France, Sweden and Finland). To date, Nauta has raised over €550m and invested in over 85 companies in total, making it one of the largest and longest established B2B software investors in Europe. Nauta’s most recent investments include NetBird (a graduate from its Pre-seed deep tech programme, Nauta Labs), Acai Travel (AI powered travel operations) and ESProfiler (optimising enterprise cybersecurity investment). Three more investments are currently at closing stages, which highlights the firm’s excellent record of investing capital at scale over many years.
